Gili Trawangan is the best-known island in the Gili Islands group in North Lombok. There are no motor vehicles; visitors get around by bicycle or cidomo, Lombok’s traditional horse-drawn cart. The result is a slower island atmosphere that feels different from busy coastal destinations.
Gili Trawangan is the main diving hub of the Gili Islands, with dive shops and schools serving visitors. You can snorkel with turtles, watch sunrise on the east side and catch sunset on the west. At roughly 3 × 2 km, the island is easy to explore by bicycle or cidomo in a few hours.

Travel by fast boat from Bali, or come through Lombok and cross from Bangsal Harbor.
There are two main ways to reach Gili Trawangan: a fast boat from Bali (Padang Bai, Serangan, or Sanur/Benoa), or overland through Lombok followed by a crossing from Bangsal Harbor. If you need ground transport to the harbor, you can use Lombok car rental. Fast-boat fares from Bali are roughly IDR 250,000–450,000 one way. A basic trip budget can start around IDR 1.5 million per person depending on accommodation and length of stay. Lombok specialties such as ayam taliwang and plecing kangkung are still easy to find.
